A Recipe For A Miracle

A recipe is directions for creating a specific meal. The whole idea is that if you use these same ingredients and put them together the way the recipe specifies, you will get the same results every time.

A miracle is heavens intervention in the affairs of men on the earth.

Jesus commended certain people while he was on the earth.

There was one common thing that all those people did: they initiated a miracle using their faith. We will look at two women who got commended by Jesus.

1. The woman with the issue of blood. You can read more about her story in Mark 5: 34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace and be whole of thy plague.

2. The woman from Tyre and Sidon, her story can be found in Matthew 15: 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

Your faith is the action you take based on what you are fully persuaded you have received from The Lord.

The blessing and provision of The Lord is accessible to all men because of the new covenant enacted through the blood of Jesus however not everyone enjoys it.

What makes the blessing show up in a situation?

These two women had situations that had persisted for some time and had defied all other ways of solving it. They heard about Jesus and decided to seek him out.

Now you might say, “Jesus is no longer on the earth today, so how can I seek or find him?”

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The word was made flesh. The word of God is Jesus. Whenever you take time to read the word, you are touching Jesus.

They both believed that their encounter with Jesus would immediately change their situation.

They overcame many obstacles to get to Jesus, they could have given up but rather they persisted. The women did not get offended with Jesus, the crowd or the disciples around Jesus.

The woman from Tyre and Sidon was not even a daughter of Abraham and didn’t have a covenant relationship to guarantee her miracle but she worshipped Jesus and called him ‘Lord.’

They also mixed their faith with the word of God

This recipe for a miracle required activating the power in the word of God with the individual’s faith.

If you want to make bread, one has to mix flour and water together and then add yeast to the mixture to activate the dough and cause it to rise and double or triple in size.

In the same way the word of God requires an activation agent to release the power within it for a miracle.

The power of God is inside the word of God. Remember Jesus is the word of God. Luke 4:32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

The activation agent is your faith; what you believe that you have received from The Lord. How do you know what you believe you have received? Your speech and your actions reflect your faith or what you believe.

When your words and actions line up with the word of God, then you are mixing your faith with God’s word. Keep on mixing it, be persistent, be consistent, be intentional and focused until the power for creation is made manifest in your life and situation.
