How To Receive More From Heaven

Jesus and his disciples were out on a mountain in a desert place having a crusade. Jesus taught the people and moved with compassion healed the sick among them. In the evening, his disciples came to Jesus and told him to send the people away so they can go to the surrounding villages to buy food for themselves.

Jesus said to his disciples; “They need not depart; give ye them to eat.”

Mark 6 reads as below:

37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?

38 He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.

Let’s read the disciples response to what Jesus said about feeding the multitude in the book of John and in a couple different bible versions:

John 6:9

“A youth here has five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that for a crowd like this?” CEB Translation

“Here is a boy with five loaves of barley bread and two little fish. But that is not enough for so many people.” ERV Translation

“There is a boy here who has five loaves of barley bread and two fish. But they will certainly not be enough for all these people.” GNT Translation

“One of the disciples—it was Andrew, brother to Simon Peter—said, “There’s a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But that’s a drop in the bucket for a crowd like this.”” Message Translation

“Andrew: I met a young boy in the crowd carrying five barley loaves and two fish, but that is practically useless in feeding a crowd this large.” VOICE Translation

The disciples looked at the crowd, and looked at the provision they had access too - five barley loaves of bread and two fish and came to a conclusion; this is worthless and useless to meet the need!

Psalm106:24 talks about the Israelites that came out of Egypt

But then they refused to go into the wonderful land of Canaan. They did not believe that God would help them defeat the people there. ERV Version

Then they refused the pleasant land. They did not believe his word. EHV Version

Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise. ESV Version

They despised the provision of The Lord. How? They refused to go into the land because they did not believe his word. They looked at the giants and the walled cities in the land and refused to believe that God could help them defeat the giants and give them the land.

In the same way the disciples despised the five loaves and two fishes because they did not believe that God could take that provision and multiply it such that it could feed the multitude, and they would have 12 baskets of fragments left over.

So, what should have been their response?

Let’s see what Jesus did:

1. Jesus prepared for ABUNDANT SUPPLY - He had them organize the people in ranks; so similar types of peoples were put in the same groups

2. Jesus prepared to feed the people quickly and efficiently before the food arrived - He had them organize the people into groups of fifties and hundreds

3. Jesus used his faith to multiply the bread and fish. He believed that The Father would multiply the food so He took the five loaves of bread and two fishes and

a. Looking up to heaven

b. He gave thanks

c. Blessed the food

d. Brake it into smaller sizes

e. Gave it to his disciples to give to the people in the organized groups

f. After they all ate, he commanded them to pick up the fragments and they had 12 baskets of fragments left over

What do you have in your hand right now?

Maybe it is five loaves and two fishes compared to what you need.

Maybe like the Israelites you are facing walled cities inhabited with giants

Maybe the medical diagnosis and financial reports are overwhelming and terrible.

Maybe you made a wrong decision, or you are stuck with other people’s wrong decisions.

Instead of despising the little and complaining and murmuring about how it is not enough, use your faith and start preparing for abundance.

Begin to give thanks, begin to show appreciation for what The Lord has done already.

Ask God for wisdom and believe that God will give you wisdom and show you what to do to come out of the situation.

Show respect to the word of God, study the word, find the promise God made about your situation, come into agreement with what God said by thanking The Lord and declaring it over your life no matter what you see and hear or feel and God will manifest that word in your life.

Start right now! Give thanks!!
